The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child visit the dentist six months after their first tooth erupts or no later than one year of age.

We firmly believe in the importance of establishing a good oral hygiene regimen early in a child’s life. We will provide you and your child with the necessary knowledge and treatment to maintain a healthy smile.

When you arrive for the first visit to our office, please be prepared to complete health information forms. A parent or legal guardian, with photo ID, will need to be present.

The first visit will include an examination, cleaning and fluoride application. Radiographs will be taken as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and as behavior allows.

We will provide an evaluation that will outline your child’s specific dental needs. Treatment options and an estimate of the costs will be provided at the end of the appointment. Generally, restorative treatment will not be provided on the first visit.

After a thorough evaluation, we can provide referrals to other specialists such as Orthodontists, Oral Surgeons, Periodontists and Endodontists. Our goal is to make sure your child has access to comprehensive dental care by coordinating treatment with other specialists.

We strive to make sure that your child is comfortable and develops a healthy and positive relationship with us over the many years to come so he or she will want to develop good dental habits. This visit is an opportunity for you and your child to become familiar with our office, our staff and our methods. The initial appointment helps educate parents on proper cleaning methods. We also want to develop a lasting relationship with you based on mutual trust and respect.
